About Me: Welcome to the site. I graduated from Maryville College in the spring of 2009 with a degree in Art with emphasis in Photography and Graphic Design. I am currently working with Stefan Cooper on Blount Press Row, a local website with emphasise on Blount County sports. In addition to the website, I am currently working closely with Maryville College Sports Information to bring you the latest sporting events throughout the year. I enjoy photographing sports because it’s always surprising and changing around you. If you have a high school student in Blount County or an athlete at Maryville College that isn’t on the web already please feel free to email me with the players name and number on the jersey. Other things about me: B&W Film: I have always enjoyed working with B&W. Unlike many others in my age group I truly started out working with B&W film. Before my fist class I hadn’t touched too many digital cameras nor did I own one. So for me I feel a special connection with an old school and simple manual format camera. I enjoy the simplicity these cameras have to offer but also appreciate the ability to be able to control certain elements of the image. I am currently studying medium and large format photography to expand my knowledge of the subject and grow in my professional career. Digital Photography: Working digitally has been a whole other experience. I have enjoyed working digitally since I have joined a local newspaper company, The Blount Today. It allows me to see the image directly after shooting and adjust for future shots. It also serves as a good Polaroid when I am shooting film. I love shooting fast action sports such a football and the camera allows me to capitalize on the continuous shooting mode so that I don’t miss a thing. I enjoy being able to shoot in manual mode and being able to change White Balance and a variety of speeds. Currently: I currently enjoy all types of subject matter. I find a calmness in Landscape and Night photography but enjoy the fast pace of sports and recreation. I’m the kind of person that enjoys a change in subject matter and I hope to better myself in every experience behind the lens. I hope you enjoy my website, Brandon Shinn
