Hi! Thanks for looking around.
I'm in the Asheville, NC area, moving back here after seven years in the Charleston, SC area in 2017.
I had a studio at Marshall High Studios, before then, where most of what I did was community based organization, public relations and design work. I was also busy archiving my father, Tom Walters', collection of, prints, negatives and emphemera. That was completed when the collection of his work was donated to UNC - Chapel Hill in 2013.
I have over fifty years of involvement with photography, starting working with my father, from the time I was about eight years in the 1960's. My first camera arrived in 1965 and I was in the darkroom shortly thereafter. I was filing prints and negatives at my dad's studio by 1968 and went on to assist him on many assignments throughout the 1970's and 80's.
Now, most of what I do is nature and enviromentally related work, photo restoration and notecard design. I was fortunate enough to attend a workshop with photographer Galen Rowell in 1985 and later attended Savannah College of Art & Design, where I had John Earl, as an esteemed instructor. They both played strong roles in the further development of my visual acuity, along with the influences of my father and also my godfather, Michael Mauney, who worked for Life Magazine.
Please feel free to contact me. Love, Peace & Happiness! - Ben
